To the Tufts Medford-Somerville Campus Community,

At approximately 3:49 p.m. this afternoon, local fire departments responded to a report of a fire at 11 Teele Avenue, Somerville, adjacent to the Tufts campus. The fire is now under control and the property has been secured.

Four Tufts graduate students living in the house were safely evacuated. They reported no injuries. They are being accommodated with alternate housing.

Another occupant of the building, a Tufts professor, is currently out of town and is being contacted.

We are grateful that our students are safe, and we thank local fire departments and the university public safety team for their assistance.
