TO: Faculty and Staff, All campuses
With winter break approaching, we want to remind everyone that if you are traveling internationally on Tufts-related business, please register your trip with the Tufts Travel Registry. Per university policy, this is a required step for all students and staff and is strongly recommended for faculty members.
Registration in the Travel Registry will provide Tufts with the information necessary to support you while you are abroad, particularly during emergencies. By registering, you receive access to Tufts travel medical coverage, a variety of travel-related services and safety alerts provided by International SOS (ISOS).
The value of registering your international travel cannot be overstated. By registering, you will have easy access to medical insurance so that treatment will be provided at no additional cost to the traveler. In the event of an emergency (e.g. natural disaster, terrorism), ISOS can support you without delay and Tufts will be able to assist your family and friends with information. We have found that registration has made emergency situations more manageable for everyone involved, including the traveler, family, and university. Registering is easy and can be completed in as little as 5 minutes.
Please note that booking your travel through the Tufts Preferred Travel Providers does not automatically register your trip in the Travel Registry. The Travel Registry allows you to enter your exact trip dates and location(s) (which may differ from your flight information), as well as other information, such as local contacts, that will allow Tufts to support you in the event of an emergency abroad.
