TO: Faculty and Staff, All campuses

FROM: Tufts Technology Services

Starting in December 2017, Tufts Technology Services will begin upgrading eligible Tufts owned and managed machines from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
How will the upgrade process work?

  1. Representatives from TTS will begin contacting departmental managers and administrators to coordinate and schedule the work and answer any questions you might have about the transition to Windows 10.
  2. An assessment of both the hardware and software on each machine will be done prior to the upgrade being started to make every effort to ensure compatibility with Windows 10.
  3. During the upgrade, other applications (i.e. such as Microsoft Office) will be installed or updated as necessary.
  4. Department managers and administrators who would like to request priority upgrades for their group should complete the following questionnaire.

The upgrade to Windows 10 is part of a larger effort to modernize Tufts computers and applications with an overall goal of providing a consistent experience and a more secure and reliable computing environment for the Tufts community. Beginning in July 2017 all new Windows systems have been provisioned with Windows 10 and the completion of all Windows 10 upgrades is expected to complete by August 31, 2018.
