CELT Upcoming August Workshops
August Assessment Workshop Series
Designing Equitable Assessments - August 9, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. ET
Assessments that are unmindful of equity risk contributing to inequity. This workshop will guide participants through some core features of equitable assessments, centering the student in the process of assessing learning. Participants will consider equitable assessments at a number of levels from examining which assessments we should choose to include in our course to how to design them to maximize their equity for our students.
Balancing Flexibility and Rigor - August 16, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. ET
During the pandemic, instructors strove to incorporate flexibility in their courses while preserving academic rigor. In this roundtable, we will explore the concept of rigor and its relationship to inclusive, flexible teaching. Participants will discuss Universal Design for Learning and strategies for reaching all students while maintaining high course standards.
Assessment: Designing for Academic Integrity - August 23, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. ET
Whether you're teaching online, face-to-face, or some combination; whether your assessments are primarily exams, papers, or some combination of different approaches—faculty are concerned about cheating. In this workshop, we will talk about ways to shift our focus from monitoring individuals toward changing the learning environment so that we can tackle academic dishonesty at its roots.

Equity, Inclusion, and Innovation: Faculty Panel Discussion
August 11, 2021, 12 - 1 p.m. ET
Please join CELT and the StAAR Center for a unique panel discussion where we will be speaking with three faculty who implemented creative practices to create equitable and inclusive learning experiences for their students. Our panel will include Professors Amy Hirschfeld from the Gordon Institute, Eulogio Guzman from the SMFA, and Kareem Khubchandani from Theater, Dance, and Performing Arts. Through conversation and their lived experiences and practices, participants will learn simple ways to adjust curricula and teaching approaches that intentionally, and in some cases, instinctively incorporate Universal Design for Learning practices that create a more just and equitable learning experience for all students. Come learn and be inspired by these three dynamic and innovative educators.
