In an effort to improve pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular safety conditions at the Boston and College Avenue intersection, Tufts (in cooperation with the City of Medford) is making improvements to the intersection this summer. There will be periods of vehicular and pedestrian traffic interruptions beginning on or around May 25. The phased project is scheduled to be completed by mid-August.
Beginning the day after Memorial Day, May 30th, work will begin on the sidewalk in front of Curtis Hall. Both Boston Avenue and College Avenue on the East side of the intersection will be reduced to one lane during construction and traffic will be alternated by the police details. It is our plan that once the existing sidewalks have been excavated and curbing has been set, we will be able to minimize the need for alternating traffic. Pedestrian traffic will be guided with the use of barricades and signage away from the work zone. Temporary ramps/planking will be installed for access into Curtis Hall and moved as needed.
Please visit construction.tufts.edu for more detailed information and timeline for the Intersection Improvements at Boston Ave and College Ave project.
Route and traffic interruptions will be published in advance to University Announcements.
